2d TSB Steps Up to Keep Clay Kaserne Fed
WIESBADEN, Germany — When an unexpected disruption threatened meal operations for the community, Soldiers from the 2d Theater Signal Brigade did what true leaders do: they stepped into the breach and got the job done.
Routine operations at Clay Kaserne’s “Stronger Together” Dining Facility came to an abrupt halt October 2, 2026, after an air quality inspection of recently installed insulation material showed positive results for fiberglass contamination.
In the interest of troop safety and community health, leadership ordered an immediate closure of the facility until full remediation and recertification could be achieved.
The subsequent closing of the facility created a critical need, and feeding the community required immediate hands-on muscle, organization, and dedication.
Answering the Call
Recognizing the urgent need, 2d TSB Senior NCOs and junior enlisted Soldiers immediately mobilized.
Rolling up their sleeves, the team reported for a grueling 12-hour shift, volunteering non-stop from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., ensuring their fellow service members and community patrons were supported without missing a beat.
Working alongside garrison partners, the volunteer crew took on every essential operational task required to keep meal services flowing safely:
- Cooking & Prep: Assisting in hot meal preparation and field-expedient food distribution.
- Cleaning & Sanitation: Maintaining strict sanitary standards in staging areas to safeguard patrons.
- Serving with Pride: Dish after dish, serving hot meals with energy, positivity, and professionalism.
Leadership in Action
Leading the effort from the front were senior noncommissioned officers working side-by-side with junior Soldiers, proving that no task is beneath a leader when it comes to taking care of troops.
Special recognition goes to the dedicated 2d TSB volunteers who answered the call:
- Sgt. Maj. Michael Tinsley
- Master Sgt. Dale Washington
- Master Sgt. Sharon Denny-Boggs
- Staff Sgt. Stephanie Bell
- Sgt. Declan Wakeland
- Sgt. Emanuel Cha
- Spc. Blayde Greathouse
“Excellence Always”
The hasty shutdown of the primary installation dining facility presented immediate logistical hurdles, but the prompt volunteer response from 2d TSB Soldiers turned a sudden challenge into a demonstration of selfless service, esprit de corps, and community resilience.
As USAG Wiesbaden finalizes contracting and facility remediation, the actions of our Soldiers stand as a stellar reminder of what the Brigade of Excellence is all about: readiness, community stewardship, and an unwavering commitment to our teammates.
